Octanoylglycine is a major component of dermal structural proteins and has an exceptionally important job in the skin, one of its effects is to balance the pH level. The reason why the pH of the skin is around 5.5 is because of the presence of various weak acids, proteins and fats. When the different ingredients react with the fatty proteins of the skin, these proteins go through a decarboxylation reaction, which changes the skin pH. pH levels that are too high or too low are not good, especially for acne skin. Many studies have concluded that acne-prone skin has a high pH. The presence of caprylyl glycine provides free carboxyl groups and maintains the skin pH balance.

 

Application

1. N-Octanoylglycine is a derivative of Glycine (G615990) and is an amphiphilic lipoamino acid commonly used in cosmetics for its antibacterial properties. N-Octanoylglycine is the active ingredient in products designed to treat seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp and acne prone skin.
2. Octanoylglycine has a strong antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes, as well as resisting the overproduction of sebum.
