Vitamin U is a term introduced in the early 1950s to identify a compound in cabbage juice. Despite its name, Vitamin U is not really a vitamin, but a derivative of the amino acid methionine. [1]
Methionine derivatives, commonly referred to as Vitamin U, include S-methylmethionine (SMM), methylmethionine sulfur (SMM), and 3-amino-3-carbopropyldimethylsulfur.
