1. Snake venom tripeptide acts on the postsynaptic membrane and is a reversible antagonist of the muscle nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nMAChR). Snake venom tripeptide binds to the epsilon subunit of the nmAChR, blocking acetylcholine binding to the receptor and ultimately leading to receptor blockade. In the closed state, sodium ions cannot be absorbed nor depolarized, neuroexcitatory transmission is blocked, and muscles relax.
