Description

Ankaflavin is a natural colorant extracted from purple Monascus purpureus and M.anka using modern biotechnology. The main components are ankaflavin and monascus. Su (monascin) and so on. Monascus pigment is produced by microbial fermentation and has been proved to be safe and non-toxic through toxicity experiments. At present, Ankaflavin has been used in many industries such as food, medicine, and chemical industry. Ankaflavin is mainly used for the coloring of candies, jellies, cold drinks, etc., as a yellow coloring agent.

 

Function

Ankaflavin, isolated from Monascus-Fermented red rice, is a PPARγ agonist with anti-inlfammatory activity. Ankaflavin exhibits selective cytotoxic effect and induces cell death on cancer cells[1][2].
