Sennosides are two anthrone derivatives of Senna leaves, which is the effective part with high content in Senna leaves and the main active ingredient of senna leaves for diarrhea and hemostasis.  
It is used for the treatment of heat accumulation stagnation, constipation, abdominal pain, and water swelling. It is one of the most commonly used purgative drugs in clinical practice.
