It is used to treat or prevent certain infections caused by bacteria.it  is also used to treat or prevent anthrax in people who may have been exposed to anthrax grams in the air. it is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by killing bacteria that cause infections. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

 

Function

It  is used for urinary and reproductive tract infections, including simple, complex urinary tract infections, bacterial prostatitis, Neisseria gonorrhea urethritis, or cervicitis.  
It  is used for respiratory infections, including acute episodes of bronchial infection and pulmonary infection caused by sensitive Gram-negative bacilli.  
It is used for gastrointestinal infections caused by Shigella and Salmonella.  
It is used for bone and joint infections.
