Pueraria has been known for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine as ge-gen.
The first written mention of the plant as a medicine is in the ancient herbal text of Shen Nong
(about A.D.100). In traditional Chinese medicine, pueraria is used in prescriptions for the treatment of thirst, headache, and stiff neck with pain due to high blood pressure. Puerarin is also recommended for allergies, migraine headaches, inadequate measles eruptions in children, and diarrhea. Puerarin is also used in modern Chinese medicine as a treatment for angina pectoris

Kudzu Root Extract is a kind of isoflavone compound extracted from roots of wild kudzu, whose main ingredients are puerarin, soybean isoflavone, daidzin and genistein. Its pharmacological action can improve microcirculation, dilate coronary artery, increase blood stream volume of brain and coronary artery, reduce heart rate, reduce index of myocardial oxygen consumption as to improve the metabolism of ischemic myocarduum. It also has functions fo resisting thrombus, raising the high-density lipoprotein, resisting vasospasm, and reducing platelet aggregation. In clinic, it is mainly used to treat diseases like alcoholism, arterial and venous embolism of retina, sudden deafness, myocardial infarct, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris hypertension and high blood fat, etc..

(3) Applied in cosmetics field, the phytoestrogen effect of puerarin can relieve symptom caused by decrease in estrogen level and aging, such as mastoptosis, crinkle, decrease in skin vitality and leukotrichia. Hence, it is frequently used in breast cream, eye cream and skin cream.
